At this free workshop, we will explore key insights about racism on the peninsula, in California, in the U.S., and around the globe, with a specific focus on how racism makes all people psychologically and behaviorally unwell and how we heal from its harms. Drawing from her book Joyfully Just: Black Wisdom and Buddhist Insights for Liberated Living, Dr. Kamilah Majied, Professor of Social Work at CSUMB, will offer:
Practices and exercises that help you to reflect on how you can heal from racism;
Strategies for catching and releasing our own biased thoughts before they lead to racially biased speech and actions; and
Tools for maintaining well-being and joy as we endeavor to be just towards ourselves, all people, and the natural world.
Books will be available for purchase and the author will be available for signing at the end of the workshop.
