Sunday May 9, 2021 Noon-1:30 PST/ 3pm to 4:30 EST
Join us, Kaira Jewel Lingo and Dr. Kamilah Majied, as we honor Black mothers and the loving, maternal nurturing we received from all those who raised us. We celebrate auntie – mamas, grandmamas, father- mamas, teacher mamas and all mothering energy that has enriched us.
We gather to celebrate the spirituality, the humor, the warmth and the guidance of Black mothering. We gather to grieve our birthing dead, the Black women who disproportionately die in childbirth. We gather to grieve with Black mothers in the loss of Black sons and daughters to racist violence. We gather because we hear Black people calling for their mothers as they die. We gather because we hear Black mothers responding.
This gathering is a call and response in reverence of timeless Black motherhood. Through guided practices led by Kaira Jewel and Kamilah, we will honor our immortal interdependence and the irrepressible power and joy of our Black mothers. The gathering will include guided meditations and time to share about our maternal loved ones. This gathering is a healing and honoring space for Black people.
Kaira Jewel and Kamilah are both Black meditation teachers who lead in the loving lineage of the Black mothers who nurtured them. To find out more about them visit kairajewel.com and kamilahmajied.com.
